I’m a candidate to be elected to the Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee representing District 1 ( Supervisor Gorin’s District - from Shellville to Eastern Santa Rosa). The Central Committee is the governing body that is responsible for educating voters, supporting Democratic public policy platforms and recruiting and endorsing strong Democrats to public office. As a 40-year public servant with executive management experience as retired Fire Chief, interim Deputy City Manager, former elected labor leader with the California Professional Firefighters, 3-time elected Democratic National Convention delegate, twice appointed California State Central Committee delegate, and Sonoma Valley Democratic Club member, I will bring a level of experience and fresh energy to make Sonoma County and California a better place for all.I would be honored and humbled to have your vote on March 5, 2024. Gil Dong For Sonoma County Democratic Central Committee District 1 has deep roots in the community, and has long been dedicated to serving it. Among their many commitments, he has been very active with several political organizations in San Francisco Bay Area.
Gil has always been a mover and a shaker; from a young age, he was involved with serving the public. He became a leading voice in the community and beyond, always working for the wellbeing of his community. My Story
I was born in San Francisco and raised in South San Francisco. After graduating from high school, I became an Emergency Medical Technician and a Paramedic working in Oakland and San Mateo County. I became a firefighter with the Burlingame Fire Department and later joined the Berkeley Fire Department in promoting through the ranks to become Fire Chief and the 1st Asian Fire Chief in the continental United States. As a lifelong Democrat, I am a 3-time elected delegate to the Democratic National Convention, twice appointed State Central Committee delegate, and experienced campaign volunteer who worked many campaigns walking precincts and phone banking. I am an alternate committee member to the Sonoma Central Committee and recently appointed alternate Councilmember to the Springs Municipal Advisory Council by Sonoma County Supervisor Susan Gorin. I have been a home owner in Sonoma County since 2013. I am Experienced, Proven, and Ready to Serve.
